摘 要

魏源是我国非常闻名的有爱国主义著称的政治家、思想家和改革家，世界现存有他的著作约七百万字，其内容主要涉及经世之学、民主政治、师夷长技等各个方面。另外，他为济世救国了解国外列强的状况，自行组织了一个专门从事研究翻译外国的报纸和书籍的小组，他们一同编纂成了《四洲志》一书，粗略的记述了30多个国家的地理知识、历史、经济和文化。特别是他在《四洲志》的基础上经过刻苦的自我钻研，参考了当时能找到的中外文献，编纂成了《海国图志》一书。既对英、美等国的民主政治制度作了极为详细的介绍，而且还做了大量的赞美与赞颂，这对中国近现代民主政治思想的蓬勃与兴起起到了重要的开端作用。魏源还认为论学应把“经世致用”之学为宗旨，他提出要“变古愈尽，便民愈甚”以此来进行改革，提倡学习西方先进技术水平，相信科学。他还提出了“师夷长技以制夷”的政治思想，开启了中国人向西方学习、向世界学习的趋势潮流，这是把中国传统思想向近代思想转变的重要标志之一。
