Humanism is the guiding ideology of Renaissance culture in Europe.Its core idea is to emphasize the status, value and dignity of the human being,to put people first, affirm real and worldly life,respect reason and emphasize individual freedom;Oppose asceticism, attach importance to the meaning of real life, advocate positive life style, encourage people to pursue realistic happy life and secularised enjoyment. Shakespeare was one of the most outstanding writers of the Renaissance of Europe.In his works, bourgeois humanism is the fullest expression and highest artistic quality.Romeo and Juliet is a famous romantic love tragedy by Shakespeare.Romeo and Juliet are two lovers who are faithful to their love and vows.They for love, regardless of the cruel reality, finally both martyred.Through the love tragedy of Romeo and Juliet,Shakespeare linked the theme of love with thesocial contradictions in the Renaissance period, criticized the feudal moral concept, carried forward the ideal of humanism, and expressed the protagonist’s pursuit of happiness in love and personal freedom.
