| The Feminist Reading of Esther in The Bell Jar Abstract: Sylvia Plath is a famous American poet and confessional novelist.The Bell Jar is her only novel which develops around the protagonist, Esther.When she was pursuing true freedom,feminist awareness and the status of women, she suffered from the oppression of the patriarchal society and the control of male values, and then she gradually became schizophrenic. The various patriarchal oppression made her feminist awareness begin to awake, and the female consciousness helped her get a new life. This article aims to analyze the protagonist from the feminist point of view.The thesis is divided into four parts.In the first part, Sylvia Plath and The Bell Jar will be briefly introduced,which is followed by the Plot and Significance of the Text as well as the literature review and Rationale of the Thesis. The second and third chapters are the main part of the thesis.In the second chapter,the action an process of Esther’s feminist awareness awakening will be analyzed. The next chapter is about the reasons why Esther has formed the feminist awareness awakening, which is analyzed in terms of family, social and personal. The last part is the conclusion which concludes the points of the full text and points out the guiding significance of feminist awareness awakening on anti-oppression of women,the quest for equality, and the struggle for real independence and their own value. Key Words: Sylvia Plath; Esther; Feminism; awakening 《钟形罩》中埃斯特的女性主义解读 摘要：西尔维亚·普拉斯是美国著名诗人，自白小说家。《钟形罩》是她唯一的小说。故事主人公是埃斯特。当埃斯特在追求真正的自由，女性意识和妇女地位时，她遭受了与父权社会的压迫和男性价值观的控制，她的精神逐渐混乱甚至陷入疯癫。父权社会的种种使得她的女性意识开始觉醒，而女性主体意识帮助她获得新生。本文旨在从女性主义角度分析《钟形罩》女主人公，本论文将分为四个部分：第一部分是引言，首先将简要介绍作者西尔维亚·普拉斯和钟形罩的内容。其次介绍钟形罩的情节和论文意义。最后是文献综述和论文的理论基础。第二，三章是论文主体部分。第二章运用女性主义理论着重分析埃斯特女性意识觉醒的表现和觉醒过程。第三章将从家庭，社会，个人三方面来分析埃斯特女性主义意识觉醒的原因。最后一部分是论文的结论，总结全文观点并指出女性意识觉醒对女性反压迫，追求平等，争取女性独立和自我价值方面的指导意义。 关键词：西尔维亚·普拉斯；埃斯特；女性主义；觉醒 |
