摘要


《深夜日记》的作者维拉·希拉南达尼(以下简称:维拉)从小在两种文化的交融中长大,深受多元文化冲击带来的影响。《深夜日记》基于1947年印巴分治这一历史,通过12岁的主人公小女孩Nisha日记的形式,记录了她作为穆斯林与印度教徒双重身份所经历的一切。《深夜日记》作为一本历史性的儿童文学书籍,在翻译过程中应该将书籍的目的性和趣味性放在首位,把握原文本的历史背景和语言风格,以适应儿童读者群体的语言习惯。

综上所述,作者认为,当翻译儿童文学作品,译者应选择运用合理的翻译理论。一方面,需要让孩子更轻松地理解历史背景和文学作品本身,另一方面,语言应富有童趣,通俗易懂。基于以上需求,功能对等理论要求在忠于原文的基础上,可以帮助儿童读者更好地理解目标语言和源语言的语言习惯。因此,译者选择将文本内容细分为:词汇对等,句子对等,问题对等几个方面。在词汇翻译中,运用删减,添加,词义转换,词汇选择的方法。翻译句子对等翻译时,注重被动句和句子结构的重构,语篇对等翻译时,补充扩展信息,调整语调,文本结构重建。在最大程度上尊重作者传达的精神哲学和情感表达,并帮助儿童更好地理解和接受这部作品。

MTI On Stylistic Equivalence of Getting Personal (Excerpt) Translation from Functional Equivalence Theory

Abstract


The author of The Night Diary Vera Hiranandani (hereafter referred to as Vera) grew upin the fusion of two cultures and was deeply affected by the impact of multiculturalism. The Night Diary is such a children's literature that integrates multicultural backgrounds.It is based on the history of the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947.It records her as a Muslim and a Hindu through the diary of the 12-year-old protagonist Nisha.Everything experienced in dual identities.The Night Diary is a historic children's literature book.In the process of translation,the purpose and interest of the book should be put on the first, and the historical background and language style of the original text should be grasped to adapt to the language habits of the child reader group.

In summary, the author believes that when translating children's literature, the translator should choose to use a reasonable translation theory. On the one hand, it is necessary for children to more easily understand the historical background and literary works themselves;on the other hand, the language should be childlike and easy to understand. Based on the above requirements,the functional equivalence theory requires that on the basis of being loyal to the original text, it can help child readers to better understand the language habits of the target language and the source language. Therefore, the translator chooses to subdivide the text content into:vocabulary equivalence, sentence equivalence, and question equivalence. In vocabulary translation, the methods of deletion, addition,word meaning conversion, and vocabulary selection are used. When translating sentences in equivalent translation,we pay attention to the reconstruction of passive sentences and sentence structure. When in text equivalent translation,we add extended information, adjust the intonation, and reconstruct the text structure. Respect the spiritual philosophy and emotional expression conveyed by the authorto the greatest extent, and help children better understand and accept this work.
